One Killed as Iran Strikes Kuwait
In a strongly worded statement, the Kuwaiti Foreign Ministry condemned Iran's "brutal and continued attacks" using ballistic missiles and drones, saying the latest pre-dawn strikes Wednesday struck "civilian and vital" facilities, including Kuwait International Airport.
The ministry confirmed one fatality, multiple injuries and significant damage to critical infrastructure, including diplomatic missions on Kuwaiti soil.
Kuwait declared it retains its "full and inherent right" to take appropriate measures in response to the attacks "in accordance with international law" — signaling the possibility of a formal military or diplomatic countermeasure.
The ministry said Kuwait "categorically rejects" Iran's "blatant aggressive attacks," warning the strikes were fueling escalation, heightening regional tensions and actively undermining security and stability across the region.
The attacks, it said, constitute a "flagrant violation" of international law, the UN Charter and UN Security Council Resolution 2817 of 2026.
In unambiguous terms, the ministry stressed that Kuwait's security, sovereignty and the safety of its citizens and residents are a "red line that cannot be crossed," adding that the repeated strikes reflect a "systematic aggressive approach" that the country "will neither accept nor tolerate."
Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) claimed responsibility for the attacks, stating they targeted US military bases in Kuwait in retaliation for a US strike on Qeshm Island in southern Iran earlier Wednesday.
