Iran Urges Pakistan to Help Preserve Lebanon Ceasefire
Iran’s Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi voiced concern over recent developments in the region, pointing in particular to alleged violations of the Lebanese ceasefire by Israel, as well as reports suggesting potential Israeli military plans targeting areas around Beirut. He also acknowledged Pakistan’s previous diplomatic involvement and encouraged Islamabad to continue facilitating dialogue and de-escalation efforts through its regional influence.
On the Pakistani side, Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar expressed unease over the deteriorating situation and emphasized the importance of preserving the ceasefire to avoid further collapse of existing understandings. Both sides reportedly agreed to remain in ongoing communication as the situation develops.
The diplomatic exchange comes amid comments by Donald Trump, who suggested that Iran is interested in reaching an agreement with Washington and expressed optimism that continuing negotiations could produce a constructive outcome. However, according to reports, Iran has recently paused indirect communication channels with the United States that were being facilitated through intermediaries, citing objections linked to continued Israeli military actions in Lebanon.
